2007 Name Popularity is in!

The Social Security Administration released its annual Baby Name Popularity list! I've grouped the names by spelling to give you a more accurate picture of where names fall in popularity. My method is by no means infallible (check the FAQ).

Here is the top 25 for each sex (the most popular spelling is first, followed by the second etc.):

And if you group Isabella with the Isabel variants - Isabel, Isabelle, Izabelle, then *that* name is actually first - and Emily is bumped to #3! Could it be that the 2008 list will reflect the trend and something other than Emily will be number one? Hmmm ...

I can't believe my name is the new Ashley. It's a little surreal, after being the only Sofia around for pretty much my entire life.
